Galataport

Galataport is a destination project located on the coastline between Istanbul Karaköy Ferry Port and the building belonging to Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Hazelnut Campus.
The main purpose of the project is to create the cruise terminal and the waiting areas and ticketing counters that serve it. In addition, commercial enterprises such as use areas for state authorities, duty free shops, technical areas, hotels, restaurants, and indoor car parks will be made available to the public. With the Istanbul Modern and Mimar Sinan University Painting and Sculpture Museum, the project aims to become Istanbul’s new cultural and art center. Passport control and customs procedures for passengers can also be carried out in the project, which is aimed at hosting the world’s largest cruise ships.
One of the most important pillars of the project is the cruise port. The new terminal is constructed under the ground at a total of 29,000 m2 with a technique to be applied for the first time in the world. The first ship will dock at Galataport Istanbul Cruise Port in April 2021, opening a new chapter in the country’s tourism.
When the Galataport project is completed, it is a breakthrough that will make great contributions to both cultural and artistic life and tourism. Galataport, which is expected to contribute an additional $5 billion to the tourism sector alone, is a worldwide project with the potential of 25 million visitors, 7 million tourists and 1.5 million ship passengers. All the famous brands of the world are already looking to take part in this place.
