Istanbul AKM Project

Ataturk Cultural Center is being reintroduced to Istanbul today, at the beginning of the 21st century and with today’s facilities and approaches, as a very comprehensive urban cultural structure, as well as contemporary halls that will serve for opera and ballet, which are the main functions.
The demolition work, the first phase of the project, started in February and was completed in May. When the new AKM project prepared by Architect Murat Tabanoglu is opened, the 2,500-seat opera house and concerts, theatres, cinemas, libraries, design shops and cafes and restaurants among them will stand out from a single building and become a large complex.
The construction of the Istanbul Ataturk Cultural Center building, which is planned to have a total closed area of 102,736 m2, is planned to be an Opera House with 2,464 people, a Theatre Hall for 828 people, a Concert Hall for 445 people, various conference and meeting rooms of various sizes, exhibition halls, cafeterias, restaurants, décor and costume workshops, rehearsal and study halls and an indoor car park.
